Hello everyone.  I hope that you and those you care about are doing well.  I wanted to write about kettlebell instructor certifications.  I am only going to speak about the benefits of the Russian Kettlebell Challenge & Hardstyle Kettlebell Challenge (Dragon Door) programs because that is what I am certified in.  Since, I have no idea how and what the other certifications entail I am not going to bash or speak of any other kettlebell certification program.  Just not how I like to do things anymore.  I will let you read this post and then make the decision for yourself.

It will make you a better fitness professional

-Many of you are (or should be) constantly striving to become better, to take yourself as a profesisonal and your business to a higher level.  The RKC system is what you need.  Nowadays people are sick and tired of the gym approach to machine based training, they are tired of not getting the results that they so badly want.  They are looking for something new, exciting, and that EMPOWERS them to be a stronger, healthier person (body, mind, and soul).  This is what the RKC provides.  Many top instructors say, “It is not the kettlebell that delivers what you and your clients need, its the RKC SYSTEM”.  This system provides you the tools necessary to get the most out of your clients.  To get them moving BETTER, with more EFFICIENCY, which corresponds to moving MORE, which means better results.

-Lets face it, would you take yoga lessons from me if all my “training” included watching a video or DVD?  Would you let me show you how to use a pilates reformer if I have not had extensive training in how to properly use, progress and challenge clients in a safe way?  HECK NO!  Then why would you ever train or want to be trained by someone who is not certified?

-In a world where liability and negligence is on the rise, why would you risk training someone in which you are not certified in?  Some day SOON, there will be a case where a fitness professional gets sued and loses due to not having a kettlebell certification.

-The kettlebell certifications provided by dragon door give you all the tools you need to move you another tier in the levels of fitness professional.  The RKC allows you to get 100% out of every client that comes through your door.  The studies show that the kettlebell swing alone (not including all the other fantastic benefits from the other foundational exercises) takes individuals metabolism to off the charts IF TAUGHT CORRECTLY.  Plus you have to EARN it!  In whatever you have done in your life, you cherish the things that you had to work for.  The HKC/RKC will make you EARN your certification so there will be no doubt in your mind that you are qualified.  Plus, you are allowed to progress within the community from HKC, RKC Level I, CK-FMS and RKC Level II.

The list goes on and on!  Why did all these top notch health & fitness professionals become part of the RKC?  Because they saw and experienced the HUGE benefit that it provided them and their clients.  What more could you ask for?  Here is the HUGE bonus that no one who is not a part of the HKC/RKC community knows about.  The HKC/RKC brother/sisterhood.  I have never been a part of a society that is so SPECIAL as the RKC.  That is why you will see RKC’s get teared up at Dragon Door events when Masters and Senior Level RKCs speak to everyone about what it means to be an RKC.  I look forward to every workshop not only for what I will learn and how it will effect me as a professional but also for the people who mean so much to me that they will help at any and all hours of the day and night to see you succeed.  I truly consider every HKC/RKC I have the pleasure of knowing my family.


Hello everyone!  I hope all of you are doing well in your lives.  Make sure you take time to tell others how much they mean to you.

Today’s blogpost is on a personal note.  Below is a testimonial given by a very strong young woman.  When she first began her program she showed much promise.  She has now been with us for 7 months and here is what our girl has blossomed into.

  • She went from deadlifting the 16kg to now the 48kg
  • She began her kb swing with a 12kg and now can perform reps with the 32kg
  • She has improved on her push up
  • She went from a turkish get up with an 8kg to a 20kg!
  • She went from snatching the 8kg to now being able to do the 20kg for reps!
  • She just performed a snatch test (14kg) today for the first time and got 99 reps!

More importantly to us is to see the confidence that began to build and continues to grow in this young woman who is an inspiration to others.  Here is her testimonial:

“I am a teacher.  Therefore, it’s been a running joke between Mark, Nikki and I that I know how to do my homework.  After investing a lot of money and sampling several of the boot camps that Omaha has to offer, I was left very disappointed.  My strong support group disappeared after ten weeks with one program and the other didn’t care if I showed up or not.  Of all of the boot camps I attended, they had one thing in common – no one consistently cared about the correct way to perform exercises and this left me injured!  I needed a place that knew my name, which took an interest in my personal goals and would listen to me to help me achieve them.  I needed to find someone who knew what they were talking about and who would believe me when I said my knees hurt when I did squats!

The first week was hard, I felt like my sore muscles had sore muscles but each day of working them out helped ease the soreness. You just have to commit to the program and yourself.  Even after the first week you’ll notice you are stronger and you have more energy.  What really did it for me was when my “skinny” jeans became my too big jeans!  I was hooked! No matter what level you are at this program is worthwhile. You have the ability to control your own workout and push yourself within or out of your comfort zone at every session.
After working with Mark and Nikki as my built in support system it became easier and easier each day to stay on track and keep energized.  I must admit, it is not just about working out, it is a combination of both eating correctly and exercising, which they help you achieve with all of their knowledge!  I’m finally feeling like myself again, strong and energetic, and when I get compliments from people that notice the weight loss, I just smile and say….SG Human Performance!  Thanks Mark and Nikki!

Hello Everyone! I know it has been a little while since I have written anything and I do apologize. Here at Nebraska Kettlebell, we have been very busy getting orientations and classes started up. It has been a tremendous start! We owe it all to our members having trust in us to deliver the results that they desire.

For those of you who are currently going to a gym and working out, but not getting the results you desire, here is a little breakdown of the advantages of being a member of Nebraska Kettlebell over going to a “traditional” gym setting.

1) Equipment

Traditional Gym – Machines, benches, cardio equipment and dumbbells make up the majority of the equipment here. The only problem is why in the world would I have someone who is already seated all day long, get in their car and drive to the gym only to sit down and perform exercises on a machine or bench? As Americans we have become very uncoordinated due to this very fact (the sitting and the training seated). When we exercise we should be practicing MOVEMENT, then when the time arrives that we need to have the proper coordination to perform a movement (example: shoveling snow, picking up a heavy object, slipping on ice, playing sports) we do it so in a way that is functional not dysfuntional.

Nebraska Kettlebell – NO machines, no cardio equipment. Body weight exercises, kettlebells, ropes and TRX. All of this equipment works on proper coordination. Getting you moving correctly, so you do so when you need to. You will also notice that those aches and pains you thought you just had to deal with will improve as well because you are re-teaching your body proper movement. Remember our motto:


2) Instruction

Traditional Gym – NONE or you have to pay extra for a personal trainer

Nebraska Kettlebell – Our first priority is on technique and there will never ever be more than a 10 to 1 participant to instructor ratio. This allows us to make sure your technique is on target. Remember its not about the kettlebell, its about proper movement. All our equipment just helps us to reinforce the proper movement skills. Plus, when technique is at its best you greatly diminish your chances of suffering from an injury, as a matter of fact, you will become more injury prone in other activities. Our cost is way less per session than hiring a personal trainer.

3) Atmosphere

Traditional Gym – Little stuffy at times, have to wait for your favorite machine for someone who is going to sweat all over it, sometimes a little intimidating, crowded.

Nebraska Kettlebell – We have a 15 person maximum for classes, so no stuffiness or crowd. Everyone works together in a team like atmosphere. We find that this team like atmosphere brings out the best in our members. Everyone supports one another and this helps atmosphere allows our members to work harder than they ever expected. Much better than working out on your own.

4) Programming

Traditional Gym – You may do the same weights and reps each time you come in that they may have given you when you did your first complimentary training session or you just do what comes to mind when you walk in through the door

Nebraska Kettlebell – First, all members are required to perform a functional movement screen during their orientation, this allows us to develop an individualized warm up and cool down to allow you to workout at your best, and also allows us to understand how are members move and what skills we need to develop throughout their progression. All workouts are then developed with our members in hand. Everyone works at their own pace and will perform the exercises that allows them to succeed in the proper progression.

5) Time

Traditional Gym – You spend 30-60minutes performing strength training then try and find a spot on a cardio machine to get your 30-60 minutes of cardio. Who has the time for this? Also, how bored are you?

Nebraska Kettlebell – Our workouts are designed to be 40-50 minutes long that include a warm up and a cool down. We promise you that you will get the workout you want in half the time. Also the 45 minute workout has you paying close attention to your technique and you will get the most out of your body. With long cardio and/or strength sessions your mind can tend to wander and that is when technique fails.

6) Results

Traditional Gym – Are you getting the results that you want? If you are then terrific! Keep doing what you are doing. If you are not, then isn’t it time for a change?

Nebraska Kettlebell – The American Council on Exercise just published a study that shows that kettlebell exercises like the swing can produce your body to burn calories at a rate of up to 20 calories per minute! That is like trying to run a 6 minute mile pace on the treadmill. This type of training will get you the results that you want. Whether it is weight loss, sports performance, or pre and post rehabilitation you will get the results you desire!
